General

The VRayColor Map can be used to set any color and also allows you to set a floating point value for the R, G, B, A channels.

Parameters

VRay Documentation - VRay Color MapRed - the value for the Red channel.

Green - the value for the Green channel.

Blue - the value for the Blue channel.

RGB multiplier - this is the multiplier for the R,G,B channels.

Alpha - the value for the Alpha channel.

A value of 0.0 equals to (0 black) in the channel, and a value of 1.0 equals to 255 (white).

For example if this parameter is set to 0.0, VRay will use the diffuse color of the material and will blend it with the R, G, B values. If set to 1.0, the diffuse color will have no effect.

Notes

  • A value of 0.0 equals to 0 value in the channel, and a value of 1.0 equals to 255 for all the R, G, B channels.
  • The alpha parameter has no effect when the VRayColor map is used in the Opacity slot. In this case the transparency value is calculated with the formula: transparency = (R+G+B) / 3
  • As the R,G,B,A values are more like percentage values, you can easily calculate the needed number for any channel using the formula:
    <color value> / 255 = needed number.

    Example: R,G,B (75,75,75) dark gray
    75 / 255 = 0.29411
