V-Ray Standalone is a product which allows you to render without having any 3d platform installed. Also, you can render over the network by using it and do Distributed Rendering.
V-Ray Standalone rendering can be managed by any render manager software. It does not include an interface and it 'understands' only from the file format .vrscene.
Additional render node license. Can be used as standalone or through Maya batch mode.
License is for full computers, not CPUs! The more CPUs you have per computer, the better you utilize the single license!
